Karen Power is a novelist and a member of Artlinks. She is a former recipient of the Waterford City and County Arts Bursary. Her first novel, Butterfly Barn was released in November 2014 to huge critical and commercial acclaim. Karen’s much anticipated second novel On Butterfly Wings, hit The Irish Times Best Sellers List, unheard of for an independent author. Joe Duffy from RTE Radio One’s LiveLine described it as “A wonderful achievement.”

Waterford City and County Council purchased copies of Karen’s novels to gift to visiting dignitaries. Libraries Ireland and The British Library acquired copies of Butterfly Barn and On Butterfly Wings. Remarkable for an independent author.

Karen will speak at the Waterford Teachers’ Centre on Thursday, 14th, November 2019 about her creative writing process and share an insight into editing and publishing route she chose as an independent author. Her third novel is due for release early 2020.

Karen delivers creative writing workshops in Curraghmore House Estate. A schedule of Summer 2020 dates will be announced soon. Places are limited.
