Thank you to everyone who attended and/or participated in Poetry Day Waterford: Here are the links, we have so far, for events that happened:
This year, our 2nd Poetry Day in lockdown will see 7 key events starting at 1pm and ending late. Again it will be a virtual Poetry Day and is being facilitated by Waterford In Your Pocket and the Theatre Royal with Martina Collender.
Poetry Day Waterford covers poetry from the length and breadth of Ireland and abroad. It has a special emphasis on 100 years of Irish Poetry, writing in lockdown, Sean Dunne and workshops and Zoom events for writers young and old. This year it is curated by Anna Jordan and produced by Anna Jordan and Waterford City & County Council Art Service. Go to our Facebook page for more updates.
What? A poetry workshop with writer and poet Joanne McCarthy.
What? The Launch! – A collection of local and national writers reading their original works… And a special ‘Food for the Soul‘ culinary, poetic and visual exploration!
What? Poetry Plus 1 Event: A celebration of the work of the late poet Seán Dunne. Curated by Martina Collender and produced by Waterford’s Theatre Royal six local writers and performers will read selected works by the Waterford poet and writer Seán Dunne
What? The Lost Launches – A time to look at and celebrate the books that were launched despite the Covid pandemic. Hosted by The Waxed Lemon – take a trip with us through some of the wonderful literature that may have passed you by over the past year.
What? 100 years of Poetry: Filmed largely in historical buildings in the WCQ – A specially commissioned documentary looking at how our literature has been rebelliously liberating – how it has changed us and how its adapted to society before society adapted to itself.
What? Poetry Plus 1 Event: Waterford Writers present a live Zoom Open Mic!
What? Modwords Presents: We will always be a voice of our times – All of us modpoets and random word tossers in one zoom room, projecting poetry like lost a part of the heart that was mislaid in battle. Spread tears and worship upon those letters, as they fall from your lips to ears, to hearts, to society, to our time. But above all thing… Let laugh a little!
And just in case you thought it was all over… We are collaborating with Waterford Young Critics who will be reviewing the entire programme in coming weeks.
