WATERFORD DIVERSITY FESTIVAL

defaultWaterford Diversity Committee

The Waterford Diversity Committee would like to invite you and your organisation to take part in our Diversity Festival this September 16th – 19th, 2015.

The Diversity Festival which has evolved from the Waterford City’s Integration Strategy 2012-2016 was launched in May 2012. This strategy aimed to contribute to the creation of a more integrated society in Waterford City and highlighted the diversity of Waterford, noting that minorities represent 26% of the City’s overall population; these include ethnic minorities of immigrant background, people living with a disability, members of the Traveller Community and people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT).

The first Diversity festival hosted in 2014 was very successful. The aims of the festival are:

  • To increase, within the wider community of Waterford, the awareness, recognition and understanding of all forms of diversity and difference
  • To ensure full and meaningful participation in every aspect of Irish Society by all those living in Waterford, regardless of their background or identity

Community groups and organisations across the city and county are invited to host events in their own area/organisation over the four days of the festival. The festival will be launched on 16th Sept and a grande finale event will be hosted on Saturday 19th Sept.

If you would like to take part, please fill out the attached EOI form and return it to
