THE EARLY BYRDS

Waterford Medieval Museum Opening |

The Early Byrds
7th June 20.00 – 22.00
Music from the age of the Renaissance

The Early Byrds are a group of well-known musicians from the south east of Ireland and Dublin with a particular interest in music from the Elizabethan age. The group perform madrigals and sacred music from Renaissance times, in costume and on Renaissance instruments, including a viol consort and a recorder consort. The Early Byrds invite you on this historical journey back to Renaissance times, the age of Shakespeare and the Globe Theatre. Costume and fashion was very important to the Elizabethans, and what you could wear was strictly governed by social class. The costumes of the Early Byrds are therefore very important in setting a visual and social context for the music.
