What is arts and health?
The Waterford Healing Arts Trust will host a half day introductory workshop to arts and health on Saturday 10th November 2012 from 10am – 1pm in the WHAT Centre for Arts and Health, Waterford Regional Hospital.
What is meant by the term ‘arts and health’? Where does it take place? What rationale is it based on? Where did it come from? What are the particular challenges? Arts and health is a growing field of work in Ireland based on partnerships between the arts and health sectors. It is a diverse practice encompassing environmental enhancement and participatory/ collaborative arts and is interpreted through a range of creative approaches depending on artists, artforms, healthcare contexts and needs of participants/audience. This half day introductory workshop is designed for anyone interested in learning more about this field. The workshop will introduce participants to some of the nuts and bolts of arts and health work, present best practice principles, via a range of examples of work and open up a discussion on some of the complexities relating to this field.
The workshop will be facilitated by Mary Grehan, Arts Director of the Waterford Healing Arts Trust and Claire Meaney, Assistant Arts Director. Please phone 051-842664 or email WHAT@hse.ie to reserve your place. The deadline for booking is Thursday 1st November 2012. Admission €5.
