The Music Capital Scheme, supported by the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht and managed by Music Network, provides funding for the purchase of musical instruments to both non-professional performing groups/ensembles and individual professional performing musicians.

The scheme has two awards: (1) Non-Professional Performing Groups, and (2) Individual Professional Performing Musicians. There is €163,400 available under award 1 and €82,000 for award 2. Applications are open since 14 February and the deadline is 2pm on Thursday 21 March 2019.

Music Capital Scheme 2019 Award 1 – Non Professional Performing Groups

This award is intended to support the purchase, maintenance and/or repair of instruments by organisations involved in the non-professional performance of music. It is open directly to non-professional performing groups / ensembles in any genre. It is also open to community, youth and resource organisations who oversee music performance in the non-professional sector.

Note – applications must relate to instruments that will be used by non-professional performers only, and instruments must be used for rehearsal / tuition and performance.

The total funding available for Music Capital Scheme 2019 – Award 1 is €163,400.

Music Capital Scheme 2019 Award 2 – Individual Professional Performing Musicians

This award is designed to provide support for highly-skilled performing musicians working at a professional level who seek support for the purchase of high quality instruments that are central to their performing career. This award is open to musicians working as a high-level performer in a solo capacity or as part of a small group / chamber ensemble in any musical genre. This scheme is aimed at providing instruments for rehearsal and performance.

The total funding available for Music Capital Scheme 2019 – Award 2 is €82,000.

The deadline for receipt of applications for both awards is 2pm, Thursday 21st March 2019.
