Imagine Arts Festival and Waterford Writers Weekend announce a new collaboration.
The committees of Imagine Arts Festival – October 19th to 29th and Waterford Writers Weekend have announced plans to bring both festivals together in 2017. Imagine is an eleven day long festival which is multidisciplinary across a number of art forms; this new collaboration will promote and highlight writing & reading as elemental aspects of the arts. The Waterford Writers Weekend which previously ran in early summer time will move into the Imagine Festival calendar and will compliment the work of the festival, now in its 15th year.
Festival Director of Waterford Writers Weekend, Katherine Collins, said “over the past years it became increasingly obvious that both festival aims are similar; to raise the profile of culture in Waterford and to showcase the talents of our citizens while bringing the best of arts festival programming to Waterford. This is a very natural move and I look forward to working with the Imagine festival committee in 2017.”
Former artistic director of Imagine, Ollie Breslin, said “We are looking forward to creating an amazing festival programme in 2017 with a very strong literary element to the fore. Waterford Writers Weekend successfully brought many great writers to the city over the past years, and we look forward to working collaboratively by continuing to assist emerging writers of all ages with inspiration and platforms for their work”.
Imagine Arts Festival incorporating Waterford Writers Weekend will run from October 19th to 29th 2017 in a wide variety of venues in Waterford city and county.
