SUMMARY:Streets Through Time\, Free heritage inspired tours of Waterford each Saturday in July
DESCRIPTION:  \nExplore heritage and creativity as the streets of Waterford Cultural Quarter come alive with actor and writer Joe Meagher. Free tours are available each Saturday morning at 11 am throughout July 2026. Bookings can be made through Eventbrite by searching for Streets Through Time or emailing culturalquarter@waterfordcouncil.ie \n  \nJoe will explore how Waterford developed as a centre of trade and industry throughout the Georgian era and how this was established. It was in the O’Connell Street area of the city that that our most iconic businesses were founded; Denny’s\, Jacob’s\, and Penrose Crystal to name but a few\, and it was on these streets and lanes that the people of Waterford found their voice and played their part in the great struggles of their day. \n  \nToday Waterford Cultural Quarter is the heart of the city’s arts scene. Joe Meagher takes inspiration from the history and heritage of these streets and reveals their secrets and stories\, including \n· How Waterford was almost destroyed by crown forces because a priest insulted a dead Queen. \n· How the city’s port and associated shipyards and export industries made Waterford a major international trade hub. \n· How a community of refugees fleeing religious persecution became leaders of local industry. \n· How banks were established\, bought and sold\, bankrupted and heisted. \n  \nWaterford’s locals and visitors are welcome to join Joe on this free tour sponsored by Waterford Cultural Quarter\, an initiative of Waterford City and County Council. \n  \nVisit www.waterfordculturalquarter.ie for further information. \nVisit Eventbrite to register for Streets Through Time / email culturalquarter@waterfordcouncil.ie \nSharing & Printing\n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)\n WhatsApp\n \n Print (Opens in new window)\n Print\n Like this:Like Loading…
