WIT College Street Campus, Saturday 9th, 16th, and 30th of November 2019 at 10.30am
Generation Climate Change is a series of free drama and theatre workshops for children aged seven to ten years of age residing in Waterford. These workshops are part of a research project exploring drama education. Taking place on Saturdays in November 2019, these workshops are part of a collaboration between WIT Theatre Studies and Curious State – Theatre & Street Spectacle Company and are funded by Creative Ireland (Waterford), Waterford City and County Council, and Waterford Institute of Technology.
The workshops invite young people from Waterford City and County to enter into a fictional world and inhabit the role of climate crisis curators, and are designed using Dorothy Heathcote’s Mantle of the Expert approach. In each workshop the facilitators support and encourage participants to co-create drama through imagination, improvisation, role-play and discussion about the world in which they live. The workshops will encourage creative, critical, and reflective thinking and action. No previous drama experience is necessary.
The workshops will take place on Saturday mornings from 10.30am to 12.30pm on the 9th, 16th, and 30th of November in the Dance Studio, College Street Campus, Waterford Institute of Technology, X91 Y074. This is a wheelchair accessible space.
