CALL FOR WRITERS – MENTAL HEALTH NARRATIVE PROJECT

Do we have the Right story

Writers are invited to apply to be part of a research team exploring human rights and recovery for those living in mental health community houses. As part of a collaborative research team, the writer will deliver a series of workshops to gather life experiences of those living and working in community residences and produce a collection of the gathered narratives.

The focus of this project is on the development of good practice within the community residences in relation to human rights and recovery.

The project, entitled Do we have the ‘Right’ Story?, is a partnership between Waterford Institute of Technology, Service Reform Fund-Mental Health South East Community Healthcare and Waterford Healing Arts Trust. Waterford Healing Arts Trust will manage the recruitment of the writer and offer mentoring support to the selected person.

The writer will need to be available to facilitate the workshop series between July and September 2019 across Carlow/Kilkenny, Waterford, Wexford and South Tipperary.

This project is funded by the Service Reform Fund – Mental Health.

Interested applicants are invited to attend an information session in the WHAT Centre for Arts and Health, University Hospital Waterford at 2pm on 1 May 2019. Please phone 051 842664 or e-mail WHAT@hse.ie no later than 29 April to book your place.

Applications should be submitted to Claire Meaney, Acting Arts Director, Waterford Healing Arts Trust, University Hospital Waterford, Dunmore Road, Waterford no later than Tuesday 21 May 2019 at 2pm. Applications can also be e-mailed to ClaireA.Meaney@hse.ie. E-mail applications should not exceed 12MB in size.

Application requirements include:

– A current CV
– Completed application form for the project (http://waterfordhealingarts.com/wp-content/uploads/WHAT-Writer-Call-Out-Information-and-Application-Form.docx)
– Documentation of practice: two to three publications including where available documentation of collaborative practice
– Contact details for two current referees

Applications will be short-listed. Short-listed applicants will be invited to attend for interview in the week beginning 17 June 2019.
