DUNAILL FOLK GROUP FOR MUSIC AT THE MUSEUM

Music at the Museum welcomes Folk Group Dúnaill on Sunday 7th February for the lunchtime concert.Formed in 2005, their style has been described as Celtic-folk with a classical twist!

“Dúnaill” perform popular modern and contemporary Irish and international folk ballads. They arrange the songs in 3 part harmony and are multi-instrumentalists playing harp, flute, low whistle, guitar, piano and violin.

The group have been involved with the Ireland- Newfoundland Connections since 2006. They were invited to perform in Newfoundland in both 2006 and 2009, at events organised by the Festival of the Sea committee. They were also the first Irish musical group to be invited to participate in the Canadian “March Hare Festival”, sharing the stage with international singer-songwriters Ron Hynes, Kevin Collins, Kevin Evans and Pamela Morgan. They regularly perform in charity fundraisers, local festivals and  concerts, most recently in the Clancy Festival in Carrick-on-Suir Co Tipperary and The Promenade Festival, Tramore, Co. Waterford. They released their debut album, “Slán Abhaile,” in August 2006 and their second album “Saltwater Joys” in 2012. The past couple of years has seen them writing, recording and performing  their own material which is available on YouTube and SoundCloud.

With concert ticket price linked to a visit to either the Medieval Museum or the Bishop’s Palace for just €2 and 10% discount on lunch at the Munster Bar, Café Royal or Geoff’s Café Bar, this is a great way to spend Sunday afternoon. Music, History and Food – that’s Sunday Sorted!
